My handle on this drill (Panasonic EY7540) has broken twice as a result of being dropped-the handle breaks off where it is connected to the battery pack. When you are climbing around on ladders and rafters tools get dropped- especially drills.However they shouldn't break- they can make plastics that survive airplane crashes so they should be able to make a drill that survives a fall of a dozen feet.It fact some companies do- other drill brands I own have survived many falls. The first time the drill broke it cost $150 to get repaired.
