Review of Panasonic FV-11VF2 WhisperFit Low Profile Ceiling Mounted Ventilation Fan

I bought this fan largely in part to a glowing review I read about Panasonic ventilation fans in one of my husband's trade magazines.Unfortunately, the article did not mention which model they were so happy with, so I bought one that I thought would be suitable for our application. I also had to purchase one that would fit in a vaulted ceiling (no attic space), so it is the 'streamlined' model.Maybe that is the problem.

It definietly works better than the original worthless fan that was there, and it might be a tiny bit more quiet, but I think I am going to move it tomy smaller guest bathroom where it will be more efficient and look for a bigger one for the masterbath. I like the idea of having one that will run for a time and then turn itself off, so I will hit the shopping trail again.

Works well on thicker steel items.It is very easy to knock the carbide tips off of the teeth when you first start cutting the edge of a piece of stock.The blade will last longer if you can hold the blade guard open, turn the saw on, and lower the blade slowly onto the piece you are cutting, away from the edge.Of course, it is DANGEROUS to hold the blade guard open, so I'm NOT RECOMMENDING this procedure.If you start cutting a thin piece of steel from the edge, the blade will bounce off the edge and you'll damage the blade.Works well on 1/4" bar stock, leaves a very smooth cut and doesn't create a lot of heat.Average rating is based on high price and short life.

I have two panasonic 12v drills - one about 14 years old and one about 8 years old.At the time of purchase they were the finest cordless drills made (see my review) - but time goes on, and other drills have caught up and surpassed the old Panasonics.

A couple of years ago I had the batteries rebuilt at the battery store with NiMh cells.It was disappointing - they never worked like they did before.They wouldn't hold a charge, and didn't seem to have as much power.

I wondered if they weren't really ever as good as I remember.I've moved to Milwaukee V28's as my primary tools.

I bought this battery and charged it up and immediately it brought my drill back to life.This is why I bought the Panasonic in the first place.Great battery.

The 3.5Amp Hour is the best battery Panasonic made for the older style 15.6V drills.
However, the best deal on these batteries is in the package of TWO. Don't make the mistake I did and buy two singles, instead get the discount by buying two at a time in one package.
These are very good quality batteries. Don't bother with the 3.0Amp Hour models, the slightly lower price isn't worth it in my opinion.

I purchased the 12volt NiMH drill (Best Drill I ever owned) You get two batteries so instead of letting 1 battery just sit around and die, put it into this flashlight. Another neat feature is that the flashlight has a low battery indicator.When you're using NiMH batteries, you want to make sure that the battery is completely exhausted before you recharge it otherwise you get the memory effect.Now with this flashlight, you'll know when it's time to recharge.That's reason enough to buy it.

Pros:

Very bright and spacious light.The color is a yellow/gold and the beam is wide and not focused like LED lights.The flashlight sits upright and tilts 4 ways. Not very heavy at all and feels good in your hand.

Cons:

The construction is plastic.Not really cheap plastic but the plastic is nowhere as nice as the plastic used on the drill.Also the handles don't have the gray rubbery grip like the drill.For $18-25 you can't ask for more.

Being that the flashlight is priced right, I would just pick it up since you already are given two batteries.It's not obtrusive at all.I was just expecting a dinky light but I was actually surprised at the quality of the light.

I give it 4 stars only because Amazon drops and raises the price by as much as $10.It's $18 now but I bought it last week for $25.

Review of Bare-Tool Panasonic EY3795B 15-3/5-Volt Pivoting Head Flashlight

When my Panasonic EY6432 1/2 inch drill needed repair, I purchased another identical one as a backup tool on Amazon. They offered me the Panasonic drill and flashlight as a package for a special price, so I bought it. I do a lot of attic work and it was getting pretty old holding a small LED flashlight in my mouth while I make wire connections.

The new Panasonic flashlight came and I immediately plugged in one of my drillmotor's 15.6v battery and turned on the light. Very bright, and a vertical swiveling head, and a carrying strap. One small negative: the head tilts down only about 30 degrees, so if you are trying to illuminate something down on a flat surface, you have to move the flashlight sideways about 2 feet. If you needed to illuminate down closer, then you should look into one of the "gooseneck" style work flashlights.

Within a week, the OEM lamp burned out, and when I unscrewed the lens to change the lamp, I found a pleasent surprise: a spare lamp inside the lamphead! Very nice touch. So I called around to various hardware stores and lamp/lightbulb stores, and nobody stocks this bulb. The bulb is an XPR16 bulb (15.6v, 10.9w) Miniature Flanged Xenon Bulb. You can find them at Bulbtronics.com or Microlamp.com, which had them in stock. I bought a box of 10 bulbs (min. qty) plus shipping = $24.50.

Because of the "down lighting" issue, I only rated it 4 stars. Otherwise it is a fine flashlight. It feels solid and heavy (because of the 15.6v rechargable battery) in your hand, and stands up stable by itself, you don't feel like it will fall over with a slight bump or jiggle.

Review of Panasonic EY7540LN2L 14.4 Volt Li-ion Impact Driver Kit with Light

My handle on this drill (Panasonic EY7540) has broken twice as a result of being dropped-the handle breaks off where it is connected to the battery pack. When you are climbing around on ladders and rafters tools get dropped- especially drills.However they shouldn't break- they can make plastics that survive airplane crashes so they should be able to make a drill that survives a fall of a dozen feet.It fact some companies do- other drill brands I own have survived many falls. The first time the drill broke it cost $150 to get repaired. This second time (a month later) I packaged it up, sent it back to Panasonic and told them to keep it.I can't afford a tool this fragile.This is good tool for a cabinet maker but not for someone who works on a ladder.
